After a lengthy, successful career as an educator, Shoneyin is currently the director of Book Buzz Foundation, Nigeria- a non-governmental organisation whose main aims are promoting literacy through the creation of reading programmes for children, developing reading spaces and organising the Ake Arts and Book Festival. Shoneyin is also an award-winning writer and a cultural activist. She lives in Lagos, Nigeria.
Afolabi started out in Abuja as the Logistics & Quality Control Officer at a construction firm. He later decided it was time for change of scenery and moved to Lagos where he joined Book Buzz Foundation. His drive, passion and analytical mind make him ideally suited for his role as the Logistics & Finance Manager for Book Buzz Foundation. Profoundly driven and perfectionist in nature, Afolabi is highly committed to his job and is much loved for his versatility, accountability and discipline. He’s an obsessive follower of news, politics and sports; greatly enjoys reading and delights in the company of quirky writers.
Alexandra Maduagwu is a biochemist turned artist who believes in the transformative power of art. Her interests are in performing and visual arts. She dreams about being a creative amplifier of sorts, giving a platform to the gifted ones without a voice. She is the Admin manager at the book buzz foundation, rendering her skills to help give art a bigger voice in Nigeria and within Africa. When she’s not working, you can find her dancing with her team, Mastiq. In 2016 they bagged third place at the Korean culture centre in Nigeria’s KPOP dance competition. She is all creativity, positive vibes and chicken.
