Ruona Meyer is an Emmy-nominated, multimedia investigative journalist, media trainer, and consultant with 18 years’ experience across Africa and Europe.
In August 2019, Ruona’s one-hour documentary Sweet Sweet Codeine brought a first Emmy nomination for the BBC World Service and Nigeria. She was also awarded Investigative Journalist of the Year in 2013, in Nigeria. Since 2020, Ruona has served as a member of the ZAM Editorial College on the Kleptocracy Part 2 cross-border investigative project, overseeing four investigations in Liberia, Nigeria and South Africa.
Ruona is currently studying for a doctorate in Investigative Journalism at De Montfort University, Leicester, UK. Her research interrogates the construct of counter-power within African-transnational investigative journalism networks.
In February 2021, she was appointed Africa Initiative Manager at the Solutions Journalism Network.
