The Ake Review is an annual multi-lingual, cross-cultural literary journal that serves as a vehicle for the promotion and celebration of African culture. Riding on the overarching question “What is your Africa?”, Ake Review signals a bold departure from monolithic discourses, highlighting instead the spectrum of multifarious identities that constitute the cultural landscape of contemporary Africa.
As the flagship publication of Africa’s most exciting cultural event, The Ake Arts and Book Festival, Ake Review aims to create an innovative, yet accessible platform for showcasing and discussing current trends in African Arts and culture.
Published every November in tandem with Ake and Book Festival dates and theme, Ake Review sustains a companion website akereview.com that runs all year long, featuring articles, interviews, poetry, fiction and reviews in multimedia format.
Submissions are accepted throughout the year, and should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
